Chair of Governors

Hanna Froger - Parent Governor

I am a teacher in a large secondary school specialising in all things Design and Technology. I am committed to the academic and pastoral development of my students hope to bring my expertise Design Technology, Food Technology and Teaching and Learning to the SASF and the pupils of Buxted and Bonners. I am currently Head of Department and was previously Head of Year and have worked with many primary schools on the transition from primary to secondary.

Interests

I have two daughters currently at Buxted school and a son who will follow them in the future. I am excited about being part of the SASF and looking forward to seeing the direction in which both schools will go over the next few years

Lara Roberts

Lara Roberts – Foundation Governor 

Background Experience: I am a GP and have practiced Medicine for thirteen years. I am currently working part-time as a Locum GP and teaching medical students part-time at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. I am on the executive committee of a medical-legal indemnity company for GP’s and have delivered business strategic and support within their complaints advisory service. I am also on the Buxted Parochial Church council. I live in Buxted with my husband and two daughters, one who currently attends Buxted School. 

Interests: I am interested in child development, health and wellbeing and how individuality is nurtured to enable a child to achieve their true potential and that through learning children are “inspired” to “aspire”. I support the Church of England’s foundations and how Christian values are integrated within the vision and ethos across the Federation. 

Roles and Responsibility: I am a Foundation Governor and part of the Health and Well-Being and Christian Ethos committees  

Gail Hayes – Parent Governor

Background experience; For the majority of my career, I have worked in a business development role. Over the most recent years, I have been assisting to grow and oversee the day to day running of a Fire Protection business, This role involves health & safety compliance for our clients and I am also responsible for the management of the staff I work with. I am an advanced qualitied Nutrition advisor and I am also an assistant vote counter for the Wealden Council Elections team.

Interests:

I have three children; my eldest is in full time employment, middle is at Lewes college and my youngest attends Bonners school. I became a parent governor because I wanted to give some of my time and expertise from both a parent and business perspective.  The happiness of a child within the years of their education is paramount to me & the understanding that every child is different, Therefore I am always interested to learn about new and Innovative ways of educating children.

Linda Huggett - LA Governor

Background: I have forty two years experience in primary education. I undertook two headships in Surrey and took early retirement in 2013. I then worked briefly as an educational case worker. In 2014 I joined Access to Education in Surrey, working with children who were not accessing education due to a variety of medical,  behavioural and special needs. I was a behaviour specialist and developed programmes to integrate children  into mainstream or special education.

I am looking forward to using my considerable experience and skills to ensure a high quality education for all the children within the federation.

Interests: I am a voracious reader and a member of two book clubs. I enjoy all music and attend many concerts with my husband. For some years I have been learning to play the piano, with limited success!

For exercise I swim every weekday morning. I enjoy watching tennis and football and am a passionate supporter of Crystal Palace.

 

 

Richard Ellis - Co-opted Governor

Background: I have a varied experience in education and creative technologies having taught film and animation for children's workshops and in adult education. I’ve worked in Learning and Development creating online elearning and video training solutions for Sussex Police and I currently teach Visual Effects and Animation to Computing and Digital Media degree students at the University of Sussex.

Interests: I have one child at Bonners school and another starting Nursery soon. I'm passionate about the potential of art and creativity and the way that technology can enhance this. I’m keen to give support and expertise where I can to help the learning and experience for children at Bonners and Buxted Schools.

 

 

Charlotte Vickery – Staff Governor

Background experience: I am the Early Years Foundation Stage lead at Bonners CE Primary School. I teach in the reception class and lead the Nursery. I have completed the NPQML programme run by University College London. I am a moderator for East Sussex County Council which enables me to share my practice with a variety of schools across the county.  

Interests: Being a foundation stage teacher I am particularly interested in cross curricular learning and learning through hands on experiences. Within my teaching I try to instil a love of learning and exploration.  

Governor Responsibilities: Staff Governor 

Sarah Puttock - Co-opted 

Background experience: I am the year 5 teacher and Maths lead at Buxted CE Primary School.  I have completed the NPQML programme and have been at Buxted for 9 years having started off my career as a teaching assistant and then completing my teacher training six years ago. Before this, I ran a puppetry group that visited and provided schools with educational performances to promote Maths, Drama and encourage development of language. 

Interests: I have a keen interest in Maths and its importance in everyday activities. Drama is also a passion of mine - the first degree I undertook was in Theatre design where I specialised in Set Design and Puppetry.  

Governor Responsibilities: Co-opted Governor  

 

Jenny Eadon – Vice Chair Co-opted

Background experience: I have had a long career in Further and Higher Education, culminating in Director of Curriculum encompassing several disparate departments, from level 1 to degree courses.

Interests: I am interested in how we learn. I think all learners should be challenged and encouraged to deliver their full potential. The learning environment should provide academic, artistic, cultural and physical experiences that foster lifelong enthusiasm and enjoyment of discovery in learners. Learners should be encouraged to develop self-confidence and

discipline, alongside respect and understanding for other cultures, traditions and people. I am always keen that the young mind should be broadened and deepened to become aware that there is more to know, something extra to find out. There is little more rewarding than to see a nurtured, young intellect blossom into full expansive maturity.

Governor responsibilities:  Vice-chair of Governors . I am the Governor responsible for Safeguarding and Inclusion. Champion of SEN. 

Michaela Spies - Co-opted Governor

Background: I initially qualified as a lawyer with a specialism in Financial Services Law. This led to a 25 year career within Financial Services, including a second degree in Finance. I am a Financial Coach where I educate, motivate and support individuals so they can make effective financial decisions to improve their financial wellbeing and ultimately achieve financial stability.

Interests: I’m married with two grown-up daughters, two dogs, two cats and a tortoise and enjoy amateur dramatics, voice-over acting and reading.

Governor Responsibilities: I am the Governor responsible for the finances of the schools.

Ben Sear – Foundation Governor

I became the Rector of Maresfield Church in 2019, though I was a member of the congregation previously until 2012.  I originally studied biochemistry at university and worked for the Medical Research Council before starting my theological training.  Prior to our arrival in Maresfield, I was based in Patcham (Brighton) for four years during my on-the-job training.

I am married to Claudia and have two daughters.  I am very glad to be part of village life and to have this opportunity to support the school and develop its links with the church.

 

Christina Pembrey - Co-opted Governor

Background: I have always had a keen interest in education and child development and after an undergraduate degree in Educational Psychology, qualified as a primary school teacher in 2009. Since then I have taught across the primary age range and developed a particular interest in children’s reading development. I’m excited to be on the governing body for SASF to help support the schools being the best they can be. 

 Interests: I am a mum of 3 boys, the eldest of which attends Buxted Primary School. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. 

Harriet Creamer - Co-opted Governor

Background: I am a lawyer by training and worked for many years as a partner in a large City law firm.  After a period of time out while my children were growing up, I returned to work as an independent consultant, advising on management and people development issues for a range of law firms across the UK and abroad.  I believe very strongly that all children and young people should be able to access an excellent education and have previously been a governor in both the private and the state sector.  I am also a trustee at St Peter & St James Hospice in Wivelsfield Green.

Interests: I am married with three grown up sons: the eldest lives and works in Madrid, the other two in London and I enjoy spending time with them when I can.  I’m a keen choral singer - I sing with The Bach Choir in London (of which I’m also a trustee) and am a huge supporter of music provision in schools.

Pete Molloy - Foundation Governor

The Rev’d C. Peter Molloy was appointed rector of the Parish of Buxted and Hadlow Down in September 2020. Previously, he served in the Anglican Church of Canada for 20 years in Dawson City, Yukon; Vancouver, British Columbia; Christopher Lake, Saskatchewan; and Westport, Ontario. Whilst serving in the Diocese of Saskatchewan, he also served as Director of Youth Ministry. He took a sabbatical in 2015 and was appointed as a Visiting Scholar at Pusey House/St. Cross College, Oxford where he looked at the Pursuit of Holiness as a Mission Imperative for the Local Church. He hopes to assist with the integration of the Christian faith into the life of the schools in the parish. He has a son in Buxted’s Copper Beech Year 4 who is very much looking forward to the grand times he will have in Year 5.

Katharine Rabson Stark - Governor Co-opted

Interests: I have been a Governor for ten years in East Sussex including as Chair of the St Thomas à Becket CE Federation which consists of Framfield and Blackboys Schools.  I helped bring those schools together as a successful Federation and hope that some of that experience can be of use to you.  I stepped down as Chair in July 2021 but continue to sit on the Board.  I am also a Consultant Governor for ESCC and have helped and supported Governing Bodies in primary Schools across the county, dealing with tricky situations and helping them grow and develop in their role.

Interests: I am a practicing ceramic artist and teach at West Dean College of Art and Conservation having re-trained during the last few years.  I have three children; two boys at Uckfield College and one daughter at Framfield Primary. I love where we live and am passionate about walking and investigating the local area.
