At Buxted C of E Primary School we are proud to have representatives that take part in our Class and School Council meetings. Our School Council plays a very important part in decision making for the School.
Each class has two representatives. Children who would like to take on the role of School Councillor put their name forward for the selection process, present to their peers why they would be a suitable candidate which is then, followed by a confidential vote, made by their classmates.
The School Councillor's attend regular meetings throughout each term; following these meetings the class representatives take back the information to their classes to gather opinions and suggestions from their year group. The School Council are the pupil voice representing their peers throughout the School.
Recently the School Council has consulted on new playground equipment, PE equipment and the Outdoor Learning Space. The Councillor's help us to make positive changes in our School community and gives the pupils an opportunity to let the adults know their feelings and opinions about the things that affect them.
The School Councillor's are always positive and proactive within their role. They take great pride and responsibility when sharing information with their peers and when feeding back suggestions and opinions on new topics during the School Council Meetings.
I am always impressed with the level of maturity and practical solutions the School Councillors share during each meeting. They are a real credit to Buxted.
